Percussion composition wins award

My composition Talány, for percussion duet, has been awarded 3rd prize in the 2012 Ironworks Percussion Duo Composition competition!

It's an exciting, and highly rhythmic 10-minute duet for multi-percussion.

Each player has their own pair of bongos, a snare drum and a glockenspiel.

The 2 performers face each other and must be in reach of each other so that, at times, they can hit each other's sticks!

All the rhythms in the piece derive from the Morse code of the 2 performers for whom it was written - Rachel and Katy These rhythms are then taken through various transformations - moving their position in the bar, retrograde, etc.

The score can be downloaded by clicking here.

As part of the prize, the piece will performed by Ironworks in a concert in California in Spring 2013.
